DeRodes, 51, joins The Home Depot from Delta Air Lines, where he served dual roles as CIO of Delta and president/CEO of Delta Technology, a subsidiary that oversees the airline's information and communication technology activities.
Earlier in his career, DeRodes was senior technical officer for Citibank's Global Card Products Group and president of SABRE Development Services for The SABRE Group, where he led the software development, consulting and information services division for the United States, Canada and France.
From 1983 to 1993, he held various IT executive positions at USAA, and from 1975 to 1983 he worked for Centerre Bancorporation in St. Louis, Missouri.
Keane Inc. Promotes CIO
BOSTON - Business and IT consultancy Keane Inc., has promoted Tedford Armistead to the position of vice president and CIO. A 20-year Keane veteran, Armistead has been serving as CIO for the past year. His promotion to vice president "signals the importance of integrated information technology systems to furthering Keane's business strategy," according to the company. He previously was manageing director of Keane's Chicago office, and also served as Keane's director of application outsourcing.
PowerQuest Hires New CTO
OREM, Utah - Donald Kleinschnitz Jr. has been named chief technology officer and senior vice president of storage products for PowerQuest Corp., a storage-management software firm in Orem, Utah. He has more than 20 years industry experience, most recently as general manager of Scalable Network Storage and Open View Storage Management at Hewlett Packard. He also spent 24 years at StorageTek.

Agribuys Names IT Vet Its President and COO
TORRANCE, Calif. - Agribuys, a supply chain integrator for the global food industry, said that Vijay Yajnik has joined the company as president and chief operating officer. Yajnik is experienced in retail and IT, including having served as Group CIO at the Dairy Farm Group, an Asian retailer based in Hong Kong. He has held executive management positions at Kmart, California Federal Bank, Crocker National Bank and elsewhere.
United Messaging Elects Hopper to Board of Directors
MALVERN, Pa. - Max Hopper, the former CIO of AMR Corp. and Bank of America has been elected to United Messaging's board of directors. Hopper, who is considered a highly influential IS leader, has more than 40 years experience serving the IT needs of large corporations. After retiring in 1995 from AMR Corp., the parent of American Airlines, he founded Max D. Hopper Associates Inc., an IT consulting firm. At AMR, he helped build core business units that formed the foundation of The SABRE Group, a technology services business with revenues then in excess of $1.5 billion. He also served as chairman and senior vice president of The SABRE Group.
Toshinori Kakuta Named CIO of Hitachi America
BRISBANE, Calif. - Toshinori Kakuta has been named vice president and chief information officer of the Corporate Ventures Catalyst North America Operations unit of Hitachi America Ltd., effective Feb. 21. Kakuta most recently as general manager of the company's Semiconductor & IC Group, Information Systems Division, Sales Information Systems Department. He joined Hitachi in 1971 and has held a number of positions.
Alcatel Appoints Niel Ransom CTO
DALLAS - Alcatel has appointed Niel Ransom chief technology officer, replacing Martin De Prycker, who left the company to "pursue new opportunities," according to Alcatel. As CTO, Ransom is responsible for Alcatel's technology choices, network strategy and the maximization of its intellectual property. He will oversee the corporate research program. He has been vice president and chief technology officer of Alcatel Americas since June 2000. He joined Alcatel in 1997 as general manager of the local networks business unit. He previously worked for Bell South.
