Intel Names its First CIOs
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Chip-making giant Intel Corp. has appointed the first chief information officers in the company's history, naming longtime Intel managers Douglas F. Busch and Sandra K. Morris to the shared position. Busch and Morris report to Andy D. Bryant, Intel's CFO and enterprise services officer. They will jointly coordinate Intel's IT infrastructure and lead the company's e-business efforts.

Busch, 48, has been with Intel since 1987 and has held several technical and management positions in manufacturing, logistics and IT. He has been director of IT since 1999, responsible for IT systems and solutions for Intel's 80,000 employees in more than 70 countries. Morris, 47, has been with Intel since 1985 and has held marketing and management positions in e-business and Intel's personal computer-related businesses. Since 1997 she has overseen Intel's use of the Internet for e-business with customers and suppliers.

Wal-Mart.com CIO Tapped for Advisory Role
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Neil M. Day Jr., the CIO of Wal-Mart.com, has been named one of seven members of the business advisory board of Velosel Corp., a provider of software to manage e-sales channels linking manufacturers and retailers. The board will advise Velosel on business strategies and product initiatives relating to the consumer-packaged goods and industrial manufacturing industries. Among his previous jobs, Day was a co-founder of Homewarehouse.com, acquired by Wal-Mart in July 2000.

HTTP Architect Joins Day as Chief Scientist
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Day, a maker of software that unifies and manages an enterprise's digital data and content, has named Roy T. Fielding, Ph.D., to the position of chief scientist. Fielding will work in Day's research group to expand software that manages all digital content throughout the global enterprise.

Fielding is well known for his efforts developing and defining the World Wide Web infrastructure through his work with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). He is the primary architect of the current Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP/1.1), co-author of the Internet standards for HTTP and Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI), and a founder of several open source software projects, including the Apache HTTP Server Project, producing software that runs over 60 percent of all public Web sites.

Health Net Names Irwin CIO
LOS ANGELES - Health Net has hired Robert D. Irwin to the new position of senior vice president and CIO, in which he'll be responsible for all information technology and information systems at the HMO. A longtime tech executive, Irwin most recently worked at Bear, Stearns & Co., as COO of the Information Technology Group. Previously he was CIO of Bank One Investment Management Group, and held IT and sales management jobs at International Network Services, MAPSYS Inc. and IBM.

Former CIO of AOL Time Warner, McDonald's Joins Board
MALVERN, Pa.- Carl Dill, the former CIO of AOL Time Warner and McDonald's, has joined the board of directors of United Messaging, a provider of messaging and collaboration services for large companies. Dill began his career in 1971 with Arthur Andersen's consulting division and has held top-level IT executive jobs at McGraw-Edison (corporate director, MIS), McDonald's (where he was CIO from 1984 to 1998), and Time Warner (vice president and CIO).

Visagent Names Bixby CIO
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Visagent Corp., which develops online applications and real-time exchange technology for the consumer-packaged goods industry, announced that Tom Bixby is its new CIO. Bixby joined Visagent as vice president of technology in May 2001, orchestrating the deployment of two major technology products, Visagent Grocery Exchange and Visagent Surplus Goods Exchange. He has more than 22 years experience in technology and business/financial management with Fleet Bank, Barnett Bank, and Nexgenix, and as a consultant.
