Banking IT Vet Advises Software Firm
AUSTIN, Texas - Financial services IT veteran Martin Stein, who has served as vice chair of technology and operations at Bank of America and as CIO of Fleet Financial and Paine Webber, has been named to the industry advisory board of Perceptant, a maker of real-time business intelligence software for the banking industry. Stein is currently president of Sonoma Mountain Ventures, which provides strategic and technology consulting.
Optical Pioneer Joins Xtellus as Director
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Dr. Krishna Bala, co-founder and CTO of Tellium and a pioneer in optical switching, has joined the board of directors of Xtellus, a maker of optics components for reconfigurable optical networks. Bala is the lead system architect for Tellium's high-capacity core optical switches. Prior to joining Tellium, Dala was a senior scientist in the Optical Networking Group of Bellcore. He holds several optical patents and is a former chairman of the signaling working group of the Optical Internetworking Forum, an industry associations that develops standards.
Radio-satellite firm picks new CTO
NEW YORK - Terry Smith has been named vice president and chief technology officer of Sirius Satellite Radio, a satellite radio broadcaster. Smith previously spent more than 20 years with the Sarnoff Corp. (formerly RCA Research Labs), where he was director of DTV Professional Systems, overseeing the development of digital television systems. Smith led technical teams in the development and implementation of satellite television for DIRECTV, HDTV, and DVD players, among other developments.
