ConocoPhillips Chooses Its CIO

As Merger Looms, ConocoPhillips Names CIO
BARTLESVILLE, Okla.- With their proposed merger moving toward completion, Phillips Petroleum Co. and Conoco announced that Gene L. Batchelder will be senior vice president and chief information officer of the new CononoPhillips.

Batchelder, 54, currently is vice president and CIO for Phillips, a position he has held since 1999. He joined Phillips in 1972 and held several managerial jobs in Phillips' chemicals division and Phillips 66 Co. He was named president of Phillips Driscopipe Inc. in 1990 and became finance manager of Phillips' gas gathering, processing and marketing subsidiary in 1994.

Health Care Firm Alere Medical Taps CIO
RENO, Nev. - Alere Medical Inc. has named Robert D. Kolb its new CIO. Kolb has designed custom software applications for healthcare and other industries for more than 22 years, Kolb will be in charge of building and maintaining technology platforms that support Alere's care management services and the company's growth. Kolb was a founder of First Step, a science-based software engineering and technology consulting firm and is widely known for his expertise in engineering electronic information solutions for the health care industry.

Former CIO Gets CEO Position
DALLAS - Felix Vasquez, the former vice president and CIO at D.R. Horton Inc., one of the largest U.S. homebuilders, has been named CEO of MH2Technologies, a provider of Internet-based, job-management software for the home building industry. As CIO at D.R. Horton over the past two years, he was in charge of IT initiatives including the rollout of sales automation software, ERP enhancements and infrastructure improvements, among other duties. Earlier, he was a technical architect for IBM Global Services specializing in designing and implementing systems for the utility and energy services industry. He also held positions at Electronic Data Systems.

Kellwood CIO Elected to Corporate Board
ST. LOUIS - Donald R. Riley, CIO of Kellwood, a $2.2 billion marketer of apparel and camping products, has been elected a Kellwood corporate vice president. Riley joined Kellwood as CIO in 1998 after spending 13 years at EDS, where he was the lead executive responsible for Kellwood's information systems operations.

Media IT Exec Promoted to CIO
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Sheryl Katz has been promoted to the new position of senior vice president, CIO and general counsel of 101communications, an integrated media company targeting IT professionals. With the company since 1998, Katz most recently was vice president, information technology and general counsel. In her new role she'll be responsible for web development, the company's e-product strategy, IT systems and staff and, as general counsel, the legal needs of the company.
